Local Lingo

-

STORY BY STEVE FISHER “A- Line” is without question the Whistler Bike Park’s most popular downhill trail. A smooth, fast trail with dozens upon dozens of manicured jumps and drops, A- Line has become a legend in the downhill mountain biking scene. Rated as a black diamond trail, it is aimed at advanced riders who are looking to ride full throttle and catch some serious air! A lot of other bike parks have their own versions of A- line; and those who have ridden it would never question why. The perfect balance of speed, air and flow makes A- line a winner among advanced riders. The trail even has its own race; The Air Downhill is a feature event of Whistler’s annual Crankworx mountain bike festival. It’s unique because A- Line is quite different from a traditional race course, yet riders still post unbelievable lap times. Think you can beat Downhill World Cup professional Steve Smith’s current record of 4: 08? If you’re new to the Whistler Bike Park, try Crank It Up, the bike park’s little brother to A- line. It’s a much more beginner- friendly trail but still exciting enough to draw the locals. Once you’re comfortable there, bring your A- game over to A- Line! WHISTLER TRAVELLER WHISTLER TRAVELLER
