NAMEW Tyler Mosher OCCrPATIONW Environmental Planner at The Gardener’s Yard Inc. X Paralympian tylermosher. com HOW LONG YOr HAVE LIVED IN WHISTLERW OM years MOVED FROMW Halifax, Nova Scotia AchievementsW 2009 World Champion Para- Snowboard; 2010 Paralympian, Cross Country Ski; 2011 Haakon Haakonson Award; 2012 Queen’s Jubilee Award; 2014 Nominated to the Canadian Para Snowboard Team – maralyméic dames – pochiI oussia Favourite driveW My favourite drive is definitely the Sea to Sky Highway. I sometimes drive the highway very early in the morning, and the views remind me how privileged I am to live here. I often take in the views of the Tantalus Range and the eowe pound and think to myself how beautiful it is hereK Favourite pastimeLactivityW I enjoy just watching the mountains change their landscape. I hang out with my two Siberian Huskies, whether at my house, at the park, on the mountain or skijoring in the Callaghan. I just take it all in and observe. I am almost always outside every day, and I am always amazed how the view constantly changes. Favourite place to take your guestsW My favourite place to go is Christine’s on Blackcomb Mountain. I love it there. In 1996 I had a volunteer job there as a Bartender ( Best volunteer job ever!), and I just fell in love with the place. To think you can have fine dining at the top of the mountain ... so decadent. Favourite place to catch the sunsetLsunriseW Well, this one is unfair, because the answer is “my house” in Alpine. I have a view equalled to the best in Whistler. I get up early, at or before sunrise every day, to watch the sun come up over the mountains and across the valley while drinking my coffee. It is spectacular. Likewise, I get the reflection of the sunset on the snowy peaks in the form of alpenglow many times throughout the year. Perfect winter day in WhistlerW My perfect winter Whistler day is skijoring in the Callaghan with my two Siberian Huskies. Then make it up to the mountain for fresh tracks on Blackcomb, taking the Peak 2 Peak across to Whistler and hiking to a peak to enjoy the views. Then ride down and enjoy après; go home; wax my boards and take the dogs out to enjoy the last bit of light. Ideally sunny with a fresh foot of snow the previous evening, with the alpine closed until I get there, but cold enough that the cross country trails are perfectly set up! The best way to spend a summer’s dayW Whistler is one of the best summer resorts around. After 22 summers here I realize how amazing it is to have your choice of five fresh lakes and almost every activity you could ever think of. Although I work almost every day in the summer to pay for my lifestyle and winter sports, I still make time to get out and enjoy it. My best summer’s day is an early morning bike ride with the dogs, a lazy brunch, then off to the beach or one of the docks to have a bit of a paddle and float, then a BBQ with friends on the lake watching the sunset. Besides “making hay while the sun shines” this would be the best way to spend a summer day; however, you could take a float plane somewhere and do all of the same activitiesK Lucky you live in Whistler because … f know f could live anywhere in the worldI but f choose hereK jy move here was a conscious choice of lifestyle over careerK f now have both with a successful landscape design and installation business, gardenersyard. com, and I ski and snowboard almost every day of the winter. Living in Whistler enables me a humble yet rewarding careerI where f love what f doI the éeoéle who work with me and my clientsK meoéle are suééortive of my séortsK jost of allI the mountains are the common denominator that unites us all. I love living in Whistler more than I love most other things in life.
