GREATER GONDOLAS AND RFID INNOVATION

-

Skiers and Snowboarders rejoice! The Whistler Village Gondola has received a major upgrade for this ski season: new passenger cabins. This year, riders will surely appreciate the upgraded Diamond Cabins, which feature comfortable seating for eight passengers and outside ski or board racks. Skiers and Snowboarders will also notice something a little different about most of Whistler Blackcomb’s chairlifts for the 2014-15 season. Lift lines will now guide you through an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Device) scanner, which reads your new RFID equipped lift ticket or season’s pass from inside your pocket, saving you the hassle of fumbling for it each run. The gate opens electronically as you pass through the scanner, and it’s up, up and away. There are a few important things to know: RFID passes must be kept on your left side, and should not be in the same pocket as your cell phone, credit cards or aluminum objects. Also, do not punch a hole in your pass or carry multiple RFID passes through the gate at once. whistlerblackcomb.com.
