TOUR WITH A LOCAL

- - STORY BY STEVE FISHER

Whistler Blackcomb is a massive ski resort (North America’s largest), which is likely part of the reason you came here to ski or snowboard! But with over 8,171 skiable acres of terrain and 200 plus marked runs, it takes a while to get to know it all. Finding the best trees, steeps and powder stashes typically comes with time and experience on the slopes. However, you can easily take advantage of that local knowledge and drop right into some of Whistler and Blackcomb’s classic runs with a free on-mountain orientation tour. With tours available for intermediate and expert level skiers or snowboarders, Whistler Blackcomb’s Mountain Host guides will show you the shortcuts to the kind of incredible terrain you’re looking for… whether it’s open, rolling groomers or tight-tree lines, it’s all there. On-mountain tours meet at 11:15 am, and are hosted between December 15 and April 21. Tours depart from Guest Satisfaction Centres located at the top of the Village Gondola on Whistler Mountain, or at the top of the Solar Coaster Express on Blackcomb Mountain. Even if you don’t ski or snowboard, you are not left out: a new off-ski Mountain Host program gives you a tour of Whistler and Blackcomb’s mountain tops and a trip across on the Peak 2 Peak Gondola. Tours meet at 11:15 am at the bottom of the Whistler Village Gondola, by the sightseeing sign. For more information, visit whistlerblackcomb.com.
