Welcome to the winter 2015 issue of Whistler Traveller Magazine. We are excited to bring you another edition packed with information to complement your visit, and hope you enjoy reading about the place we love.

We are surrounded by beauty: from the majestic grandeur of snow- laden mountains and the peaceful tranquillity of frozen lakes, to the bustling hub of the village. Excitement abounds with a fresh, prodigious snowfall, followed by a magnificent blue- bird day.

A winter playground, just begging for you to experience its wonders, Whistler offers a staggering variety of winter activities. Beyond the exceptional terrain that Whistler and Blackcomb mountains offer why not fulfill the dream to experience skiing and snowboarding in the Sea to Sky backcountry? ( Take to the Skies, Heli- skiing, p. 30; Un- tracked: Cat- skiing the backcountry, p. 34)

Whether you’re heading to the mountains or venturing out onto snowshoe or cross country trails at Lost Lake or the Whistler Olympic Park ( Whistler’s Nordic Playground, p. 42), what you wear in winter can definitely affect your level of enjoyment: get some tips from Whistler’s performance clothing retailers and ( Dress Your Best, Staying warm and dry on the slopes, p. 20).

Having completed another adventurous winter day outdoors, warming up will be high on your priority list: a soul- warming hot beverage sounds very tempting as an integral part of the ‘ obligatory’ après scene ( Toasty Winter Toddies, p. 64). Experience a culinary adventure at outstanding restaurants: Whistler’s chefs have some innovative dishes awaiting you, so indulge! ( Caviar: Sustainable and accessible, p. 58); or sample some comforting classics ( Hot Spot, p. 68).

Winter activities can be both physically and mentally demanding. With all this adventure you should strive to make time for some rest and relaxation. Rejuvenate your mind ( Floatation Therapy: Serene escape, p. 48); or repair your body with some healing hands at a Whistler spa ( East Meets West: Whistler’s eastern spa treatments, p. 72); or perhaps an escape of realism and appreciation of non- conformity with a gallery tour ( Art – A Contemporary Tour, p. 78).

However you choose to fill your visit to Whistler, we hope that we have inspired you. And remember: Whistler will always be somewhere you want to spend a little more time.
