The Scandinave Spa Whistler

-

Shhh … The Scandinave Spa Whistler believes in the healing power of nature. This philosophy is evident not only in the spa’s treatment practices and architecture, but in the silence that fills the gaps between rushing waterfalls, crackling fires and the drip-drops of a steam room. “We have a silence policy on site,” says Simmone Lyons, marketing manager of Scandinave Spa Whistler. “A lot of people find that a challenging aspect until they experience it and then they understand the benefits. Silence is an important part of relaxation and reaching inner stillness.” Thai yoga massage at the Scandinave Spa almost feels like an afterthought. The treatment rooms overlook a Nordic-inspired outdoor oasis built on water, fire, earth and air. Nature amplified, the baths clearly take centre stage. Surrounded by cedar forests and mountain peaks, this impressive site is founded on the principle of hydrotherapy, whereby guests experience an alternating rotation of hot and cold pools, wood-burning saunas, eucalyptus steam rooms, relaxation solariums and fireplaces, all strung together by a heated footpath. A new yoga studio provides a space for stretching as well. “Hydrotherapy helps eliminate toxins and improve circulation,” Lyons says. “We encourage guests to use the baths before and after, so you get the full benefit of a treatment.”
