ENJOY AN ICE CAVE — OR ICE CAP — ADVENTURE

-

Does your “bucket list” include a unique and unforgettable adventure, or perhaps a special celebration, inside a spectacular blue ice cave? Does your ultimate outdoors adventure include a snowmobile excursion atop a remote, glaciated ice cap, with a chance to view wildlife in its natural habitat? Have you a special variation on any of those images in mind? If you can dream it, chances are that Head-Line Mountain Holidays (HLMH) can make it happen.

The five-year-old, Whistler-based company has regular experiences that include Heli Ice Cave Explore, The Blue Room (an extraordinary private dining experience prepared by Four Seasons Whistler’s Executive Sous Chef David Baarschers and served inside an ice cave), Heli Snowmobile and Heli Hot Springs. It also organizes special events including proposals, weddings, anniversaries or corporate retreats in unique and exclusive settings. Excursions are tailored to individual clients’ tastes and budgets, said Chantal Limoges, HLMH marketing and communications manager.

The ice cave and snowmobile adventures take place on an “Ice Cap” at Whistler’s doorstep that, at 320 square kilometres, is the largest in the region. “There are multiple ice caves we can explore on our Heli Ice Cave Explore experience. Once we land on the ice cap, and subject to snow conditions and the guests’ ability level, we will take snowmobiles, snow bikes or snow buggies to explore other nearby ice caves,” Limoges said.

All tours are led by their wilderness experience expert guides and naturalists, who have been exploring and developing guidelines in the Sea to Sky region for more than 25 years. HLMH has a partnership with the Simon Fraser University (SFU) Earth Sciences Department’s Glaciology Group to share information and data — information that is frequently shared with clients. “We’re all about partnerships and relationship development to help ensure that we’re able to provide bespoke luxury wilderness experiences for our guests,” Limoges said.

In addition to providing distinctive guest experiences, 3 per cent of the revenues from the Heli Ice Cave Explore tours goes toward the company’s “White is Green” Ice Cap Research Initiative in partnership with SFU. Visit headlinemountainholidays.com or call 604-902-6415.
