Murder charge added in Panchyshyn case
A Chatsworth Township man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the case of Nolan Panchyshyn, police said Wednesday evening.
David Beattie, 22, was initially charged with indignity to a dead body and failing to comply with probation, the OPP said in a news release. As a result of an ongoing investigation, he was arrested Monday and charged with second-degree murder, police said.
Panchyshyn, 20, of Southampton, was reported missing on Dec. 20, 2017. Officers later located his body during a search of a property near Dornoch.
Another man was also charged with second-degree murder and indignity to human remains in connection with the case, but the status of those charges was not addressed in Wednesday’s news release.
Beattie is scheduled to appear by video in an Owen Sound court Nov. 6 on the latest charge.
The investigation continues and South Bruce OPP asks anyone with information of any kind, no matter how small, to call the OPP at 1-888310-1122, or contact Crime Stoppers.
