Squirrels

-

Squirrels are feisty little animals. Have you ever sat and watched them? They perform incredible leaps in the air from branch to branch, and tree to tree. Did you know that there is a subspecies of squirrels known as Flying Squirrels (or Pteromyinae)? They can’t fly like birds, but they are able to glide from one tree to another with the help of a “patagium,” a furry, parachute-like membrane of skin that stretches from wrist to ankle. Their long tail provides stability in flight. As they’re gliding through the air, Flying Squirrels steer with their limbs and tail.
