How is it Doing?

-

After having a hard time because of excessive hunting in the late 1800s and early 1900s, the Bowhead Whale population is doing much better! From numbers as low as 1,000 whales, the western Arctic population is now estimated to be about 11,000.

But it is still considered a species at risk in Canada. Threats to this whale include collisions with boats, noise pollution and climate change.
