Beloved TV comedy series Corner Gas comes to end

The population of Dog River swelled by about 2,500 on Sunday as fans from across Canada gathered to say goodbye to the popular TV series, Corner Gas.

The parking lot outside Regina’s Canada Saskatchewan Production Studios — partial home to Corner Gas for the past six seasons — was filled with fans standing in line to meet their favourite cast members and munching on chili cheese dogs. Inside, fans got a chance to sit in a booth at The Ruby and scan the wanted posters on the walls of the Dog River Police Department.

That dry brand of Prairie humour hit the funny bone of many a Canadian, putting Corner Gas on the television map in a big way.

While smiles and laughter were aplenty, the event had a bittersweet twinge as cast, crew, producers and fans alike said farewell to the muchloved show.

But don’t count Corner Gas out just yet — there is already talk of a feature.
