‘Extremely’ drunk man’s stash seized
Windsor police uncovered a stash of marijuana, hashish, contraband cigarettes, knives and a meat cleaver after finding a drunk man staggering around threatening to stab someone.
Police responded around 7 a.m. Wednesday to an apartment building in the 1100 block of Ouellette Avenue.
They had received a call about a man acting erratically and waving a knife around in the hallway.
Officers arrived to find an “extremely intoxicated” man staggering around the hallway outside his open apartment door.
Police said the man was rambling incoherently about stabbing someone. The officers arrested the man, but didn’t find a knife on him.
They took a look inside his apartment to see three knives and a meat cleaver on a coffee table.
Officers also noticed an “overpowering smell of marijuana.”
They went inside to find several bags of loose marijuana on a dresser.
The total weight of the marijuana was 1.36 kilograms, police said.
Police said they also found two bricks of hashish and several vials of hashish oil, along with 48 cartons of contraband cigarettes.
Investigators estimate the drugs to be worth a total of $17,400.
Barry Leclair, 38, of Windsor, is charged with five counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
