University’s response brutal

Re: Law prof ‘divisive,’ U of W says, by Joseph Brean, Postmedia News, Nov. 12.

As a longtime friend and colleague of Dr. Emily Carasco, I was shocked and saddened to see the brutal university response to her human rights complaint. I did not recognize the person she was made out to be.

Many colleagues, alumni and students support her, a fact that seemed to be overlooked in The Windsor Star article.

Dr. Carasco has a doctorate in law from Harvard University, an honorary doctoral degree from the Law Society of Upper Canada, several prestigious awards and she was Windsor’s Woman of the Year.

In my view, the vitriolic, intemperate and cruel response of the university was both exaggerated and unfair. I hope Windsor Star readers will keep an open mind about this complaint while it makes its way through an objective neutral Human Rights Tribunal.
