What’s closed on Thanksgivi­ng

If you’re planning on tippling with your turkey this long Thanksgivi­ng weekend, you’d best plan ahead. Liquor and beer stores will be closed on Monday, as will Devonshire Mall and Tecumseh Mall. Most major retailers and banks will also close for the holiday. City of Windsor offices will be closed on Monday, and the monthly meeting of the planning and economic developmen­t standing committee will take place Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in city council chambers. The next regular meeting of city council will take place Oct. 15. The city’s 311 call centre will be closed on Monday, with regular hours resuming Tuesday at 7 a.m.

The 211 call centre will be open 24 hours Monday to assist residents of Windsor and Essex County. There will be no garbage collection on Monday, and all garbage and recycling collection will be delayed one day. The public drop- off and chemical waste depots at Central Avenue and E.C. Row Expressway will be closed Monday and will reopen Tuesday. Community centres, customer care centres and indoor pools will all be closed Monday, with the exception of scheduled rentals. All city arenas will be closed. The Ojibway Nature Centre will be open for its Fall Festival on Monday from noon to 4 p.m. There will be no parking enforcemen­t on Monday, and municipal ticket payment offices will be closed. All Windsor Public Library branches will be closed on Monday and resume regular hours on Tuesday. Transit Windsor buses will run on a Sunday/ holiday schedule on Monday. The tunnel bus will operate on a regular weekday schedule.
