A terrifying string of seemingly random shootings in Michigan could be over after police raided a suspect’s house and arrested him — but investigators are still urging citizens to remain vigilant.

The I-96 police task force confirmed they arrested a 43-yearold Wixom, Mich., man Monday night.

There have been at least 24 shootings since Oct. 16. The gunman randomly fired at people going about their daily business, from driving to taking out the trash, often narrowly missing them. One person was wounded.

Police also seized the suspect’s car, which matches the description of the black, fourdoor vehicle used in the shootings, along with other potential evidence.

The shootings happened on I-96, along with other roads and highways in Oakland, Ingham, Livingston and Washtenaw counties.

Police said they won’t be releasing any other information about the suspected shooter, pending further investigation and a review by the four county prosecutor’s offices and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

To catch the shooter, an I-96 task force was created, made up of the Ingham County Sheriff ’s Office, Wixom Police Department, Michigan State Police, the Oakland County Sheriff ’s Office and the Livingston County Sheriff ’s Office.

Police received more than 2,800 tips since the task force was established Oct. 19.

Despite the arrest, police encourage people to “remain vigilant” and continue reporting information that could lead to potential suspects.

There is still a $102,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction, police say.
