INFORMATION PLEASE

- BY TAYLOR MICHAELS

What happened to The X Factor? I have enjoyed it these past few years. It’s one of the very few shows you can watch without sex, nudity or foul language in your face.

It’s still on, but the popular singing competition moved to CTv Two for its third season after spending its first two on the main CTv network. You can catch it there Wednesdays and Thursdays. This season, the show welcomed new judges Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio and made Mario Lopez the sole host. Last season on NCIS: Los Angeles, there was a story that featured another NCIS team with Kim Raver. I thought that was the introduction to a new spinoff. Was I wrong, or did CBS decide not to make the series?

Jeff Brisk

Yes, that story was a “backdoor pilot,” an episode of an ongoing series meant to set up a new show. CBS ultimately decided not to go ahead with that, which came as a surprise to many – but then, the network also surprised

many by not picking up an Eddie Murphy-pro

duced Beverly Hills Cop series.

What happened to CSI:NY? In the finale, Det. Mac Taylor proposed to his girlfriend. There was no hint that the show was going off the air.

Pat Degasperis

Actually, that final episode was written as either a season or a series finale ... which had been the case the year before. It was something of a sign that CSI: NY ended its original episodes in February; pretty early for a series that might return the following season, though a renewal was still possible. Another sign came when CBS released a list of shows that had been renewed early, and CSI: NY was notably missing from it. In the end, CBS decided to call it a day on the show after nine years.
