It’s time to annex Tecumseh, LaSalle

Recently, the City of Windsor has had to go begging to the surrounding towns asking for some assistance to sponsor the Ontario Games that will be of benefit to the surrounding communities but have been rejected by many of those people who also make their living in Windsor.

This has brought to light the number of people who are directly employed by the City of Windsor who have decided that they do not want to live in Windsor and move into fancy neighbourhoods in the suburbs that do not have the facilities that they enjoy in Windsor without paying their fair share of maintaining those facilities.

The time has now come that city council and the mayor insist that the province immediately allow the City of Windsor to annex the surrounding communities starting with Tecumseh and LaSalle.

The people of these communities have for too long taken advantage of the facilities and the events that the City of Windsor provides for its citizens without paying for them.

The recent pay increases given to the police and firefighters have brought to light the numbers of those people who have moved to the outlying communities. It’s high time that they pay their share of the recent outlandish pay increases that they have been given.

Windsor City Council has done a magnificent job with the city’s finances. Let’s bring Tecumseh and LaSalle into Windsor.
