Wilson added
Windsor’s Ryan Wilson will be in the lineup for the Colorado Avalanche for Game 3 against the Minnesota Wild in Minnesota Thursday (9:30 p.m., TSN2).
The Colorado defenceman will replace Tyson Barrie, who was injured in Game 2 on a knee-on-knee hit by former Spitfire Matt Cooke.
“I have no excuse for Matt Cooke doing this. He sticks his knee out, plants his knee,” Cherry said on his Coach’s Corner segment of Hockey Night in Canada Tuesday as video of the hit was shown.
“What is the matter with this guy? It’s absolutely ridiculous to do that.”
Barrie, who Cherry referred to as Colorado’s “best defensive guy,” will need four to six weeks to recover from the torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee he suffered from the hit. The Avalanche lead the series 2-0.
McBride record
Windsor’s Brandon McBride set a Mississippi State University school record in the men’s 800 metres on the weekend.
The 19-year-old McBride, who is a Herman high school grad and Windsor Legion product, ran a career best 1:45.35 at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.
A sophomore, McBride, who won the NCAA indoor men’s 800 metres, finished fourth in the race, but had the best collegiate time in the race and his clocking left him with the top NCAA outdoor time this year.

The University of Virginia boat with a crew that included LaSalle’s Catherine Multari posted the fastest time of any Fours at the ACC/Big Ten challenge held this past weekend on Belleville Lake in Michigan.
Racing in the Cavaliers’ Second Varsity 4, Multari’s crew beat No. 9 ranked University of Michigan twice and No. 4 ranked Ohio State once. Overall, the Cavaliers won nine races.
