Right in time to greet spring, Kingsville will host its first restaurant week, starting on Monday.

“Kingsville’s got a great array and great selection of restaurant options,” said Trevor Loop, owner of Jack’s Gastropub.

Jack’s and nine other Kingsville restaurants will present spring-themed feature menus paired with local wines as part of the weeklong King’s EPIC Feast (Essex Pelee Island Coast).

The event is organized by Eat, Drink, Dine, Kingsville, a loose grouping of local restaurants, wineries and other food-related businesses in the area.

During the King’s EPIC Feast, participating restaurants will offer prix fixe menus for lunch starting at $20 and for dinner from $25 to $40.

Eat, Drink, Dine, Kingsville works well because every restaurant offers something slightly different, said Antho- ny Del Brocco, chef and owner of Mettawas Station, which is participating in the restaurant week, along with Koi Sushi, King’s Landing, The Main Grill and Ale House, O’Sarracino, Merli’s Coffee House, Vernon’s Tap and Grill, Annabelle’s Tea Room, and Elite Steak and Seafood.

For his feature menu, Del Brocco has planned a “sloppy Giuseppe” sandwich, made with slow-roasted lamb (courtesy of the Butcher of Kingsville) and a Lake Erie perch taco, as well as braised chicken, and a roasted tomato and cara- melized leek flatbread.

Desserts include a mini lavender-honey cheesecake and strawberry- rhubarb Bundt. Jack’s will serve homemade ice cream.

Reservations are recommended.

Some restaurants will feature local wines by the glass, while others, like Mettawas, will offer what’s known as a “flight” — a different threeounce serving of wine for each course of the meal.

Del Bracco said the group is already talking about doing another restaurant week in October to coincide with the Migration Festival — a traditionally touristy time of the year for Kingsville.

The King’s EPIC Feast starts Monday, April 28.

Call ahead to check restaurant hours since some restaurants are usually closed Mondays.
