Families staying at Windsor’s Ronald McDonald House for the next while can thank a team of 12-yearold hockey players for their everyday supplies during their stay.

The Erie North Shore Pee Wee Major “A” Hockey Team from Leamington, Kingsville and Harrow spent a month going door to door collecting supplies for the local house, which is actually situated on the third floor of Windsor Regional Hospital’s Metropolitan Campus.

On Monday night the team gathered at Harrow Arena and loaded all the supplies they had collected, plus $50 worth of gift cards, onto a donated trolley bus from Windsor Essex Trolley Tours and made the trip to Windsor.

“I just thought it would be nice for the offence and defence to have a little competition between the teams, and basically the major winner here is Ronald McDonald House,” said organizer Kiffi Olson, whose son Seth plays goal on the team.

“The kids have done a fabulous job collecting goods over the last month and Ronald McDonald House is happy to have us and we also get a tour.

“The kids are thrilled, they are excited, and fortunately the trolley donated its time so we’re really excited.”

The team is made up of 14 boys and one girl.

Olson contacted Ronald McDonald House and received an itemized list of the sorts of things regularly needed at the house such as disinfectant wipes, detergent pods and canned goods.

Ronald McDonald House provides lodging for families of children who are seriously ill or undergoing medical care.

“Anyone could be in a situation where we need this and it’s for a good cause,” said Olson.
