Pop-rockers first video
Have you ever been so mad at your significant other that you’ve tossed their belongings out of your home?
No? To be honest, neither has Windsor singer Christie Palazzolo. But that’s what she does in her music video for her new single Out of Time.
“It’s not totally accurate to my last relationship,” Palazzolo said. “It’s a little bit about personal experience, but I kind of made it generic so that people could relate to it in their own way.
“It’s not about a specific boyfriend.”
The video is a first for the 24-year-old pop-rocker — meant to promote her debut release, an EP entitled Alive Today.
Shot locally by Gavin Michael Booth and Jendo Shabo, the video depicts Palazzolo packing her fictional boyfriend’s possessions in a box while he tries to win her back with romantic gestures.
There’s a nod to the 1989 Cameron Crowe film Say Anything in which the desperate dude holds up a portable stereo playing “their” song.
But in the end, Palazzolo completes her rejection of her former lover by dumping the box’s contents on her snow-covered front steps and slamming the door in his face.
Michael Krym portrays the jilted beau.
“He’s a friend of mine,” Palazzolo explained. “It’s not my house, actually.”
Asked what Krym’s character did to make her so angry, Palazzolo replied: “Well, he didn’t do much. I wanted to portray the frustration of waiting around for somebody too long — and then they come back around when it’s too late.
“It’s kind of the worst case scenario. I’ve never done anything that extreme.”
Palazzolo says she’s been playing music for as long as she can remember, but she has been pursuing it seriously as a profession for the past four years.
Since its release on Feb. 13, Out of Time has landed among the Top 10 Most Active Indies chart of the digital distributor DMDS/ Yangaroo.
