W.E. Care For Kids raises $154,902 for children

W.E. Care For Kids presented a $154,902 cheque Friday to buy needed medical equipment to take care of children at Windsor Regional Hospital. The charity, which has raised more than $7 million for the local care of children since it was created 20 years ago, is funding: A vital signs monitor for the Family Birthing Centre; a Giraffe Omnibed — a high-tech incubator and radiant warmer — for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; a portable pulse oximetry monitor — to measure a patient’s oxygen saturation — for the pediatrics unit; and instrument­s for ear, nose and throat surgeries in the pediatrics operating room. In addition, W.E. Care for Kids is committing to raise $99,000 for a Mobile C-Arm Mini View Diagnostic Imaging Machine, which is a portable X-ray machine that will be particular­ly useful for diagnostic tests at the bedside of kids in the pediatrics unit.
