The Detroit Red Wings announced on Thursday that the team is returning to Traverse City, Mich., for the club’s development camp, NHL prospect tournament as well as training camp.

The club’s development camp, which will feature drafted, signed prospects and select free agents, will take place July 7-11 at Centre Ice Arena and is open to fans for $5 US per day.

The Red Wings will hold the club’s annual prospect tournament for the 19th season from Sept. 8-12.

The Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues will also take part in the event. Tickets are $10 US per day.

Over the history of the tournament, more than 550 players have moved on to play at least one NHL game, which includes 26 of the 35 players who suited up for the Red Wings last season.

Detroit will hit the ice for the first time, in preparation for the 2017-18 season on Sept. 15 and continue through Sept. 18. Tickets range from $10 (all figures US) per day to $20 per day. The club’s Red and White game, which will be held Sept. 18, will cost $20 for standing room and $30 for reserved seating of mezzanine.

PISTON IN TECUMSEH

Detroit Pistons guard Ish Smith will be hosting his Ish Smith Skills Academy on June 10-11 at Tecumseh Vista Academy.

The cost is $150 and includes two days of camp, a T-shirt and light lunch. The camp runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day and is open to players age seven to 17.

LIONS PUT LB ON INJURED LIST

The Detroit Lions placed linebacker Brandon Chubb on the reserve/injured list with a knee injury.

The 23-year-old Chubb was signed as a free agent by the Los Angeles Rams last season, but was cut after training camp. The six-foot-one, 240-pound Chubb has spent time on the practice squad for the Rams, Lions and San Francisco 49ers.
