Laurent-Perrier La Cuvée Brut Champagne Champagne, France ON $69.95 (517714)

The rise in quality from Laurent-Perrier has been one of 2017’s happiest discoveries. This multi-vintage Champagne, which blends Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier from more than 100 vineyards, and the stunning Cuvée Rosé Brut ($99.95, 158550) are some of my most memorable wines of the year. The flavour is rich and refined, which makes this a great selection when you’re looking to push the boat out.

Cloudy Bay Vineyards 2017 Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough, New Zealand ON $35.95 (304469)

Cloudy Bay helped make Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand an international superstar. Today, this iconic white wine continues to impress, with off-the-charts flavour intensity and a richly concentrated texture. There are certainly Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs that rival Cloudy Bay for taste and enjoyment (at a more affordable price to boot), but it’s nice to see the pioneering estate continuing to be a beacon of quality.

Tenuta dell’Ornellaia 2015 Le Volte Tuscany, Italy ON $29.95 (964221)

Ornellaia’s entry level red, Le Volte, has always appealed, thanks to its serious and sophisticated character. The 2015 vintage continues that legacy nicely, showcasing the polished complexity and verve that makes the best Tuscan red wines so appealing. This reveals layers of ripe fruit, sweet spices and smoky notes with an attractive silky texture, refreshing acidity and satisfying finish.
