Three events in Windsor and Essex County make Top 100 list
Three Windsor and Essex County festivals have been named among the best on this year’s Top 100 Ontario festivals and events list. The list, comprised by Festival and Events Ontario, picked Carrousel of Nations, LaSalle Craft Beer Festival and Tecumseh Corn Festival among the best events for Southwestern Ontario. Tecumseh’s director of parks and recreation Paul Anthony said this is the 15th year in a row the festival has received the award. The 43rd annual Tecumseh Corn Festival will take place at LaCasse Park from Aug. 24-26. Carrousel of Nations runs June 15 - 24 and the LaSalle Craft Beer festival runs Oct. 5 to 6. According to FEO the top 100 recipients represent festivals and events that excel in the industry. The top 100 list is comprised of some of the most well-known and respected celebrations in the province and ones that draw an international and domestic audience. Nominations were accepted and then voted on by an independent panel of judges. “For over 40 years, Carrousel has celebrated the diversity of our community and engaged citizens in enjoying the food, music, arts and culture of our many multicultural communities,” said Kathie Thomas, executive director Multicultural Council of Windsor Essex County. “The event has become a beloved community event organized and attended by multiple generations in Windsor Essex. Provincial recognition is a salute to the staff, volunteers, sponsors and most importantly the ethnocultural communities that have given their time and talent to making Carrousel of Nations such a success.” FEO was established in 1987 to help the growth of the event industry in Ontario. The industry is estimated to generate more than $2.3 billion annually.
