Road Potholes A Major Hazard

-

Potholes and terrible roads have become a serious problem around the city of Windsor as a result of the freezing temperatures we have experienced so far this winter. It is extremely difficult to look out for potholes and avoid them while also focusing on the cars ahead and those around you. Choosing to do one over the other could result in damage to your car, or worse, injuring yourself or others by getting into an accident. One of the worst heavy traffic roads in Windsor is the exit ramp coming off E.C. Row Expressway going westbound, exiting onto Dominion Boulevard. Last week, I witnessed firsthand the damage these roads can cause. I was a passenger in a vehicle that took the Dominion exit going westbound on E. C. Row, when he hit a massive pothole in the right-hand turning lane on the off ramp. After getting to our destination, we inspected the car to find the wheel well on the front passenger side of the car to be badly damaged and dangling from the car. On the way to the dealership, you could hear the dangling piece scraping against the front tire. Fortunately, there wasn’ t more damage done to the car. However, the repair expense came out of the driver’s pocket.

The City of Windsor needs to do something about these damaged roads, especially those that have a large volume of traffic. The bottom line is these roads need to be fixed and if it means taking more of our tax dollars to get it done, then so be it.
