Cameron Repmann’s lowest mark throughout four years of high school would be a dream score for most students.

A 94 per cent in French is as troublesome as it got during his time at Riverside Secondary School. In Grade 12, the 17-year-old ran the table, scoring 100 per cent in all seven of his courses.

“I’ve never seen it before,” said Riverside principal Tony Omar. “I’ve been in education for 27 years and I encountered one other student who got 100 in six of his Grade 12 courses. That was at Leamington.”

Scott Scantlebury, the Greater Essex County District School Board’s public relations officer, described Repmann’s feat as “extremely rare.” Especially considering the mathladen lineup he took in Grade 12 with data management, chemistry, advanced functions, technological design, world history, physics and calculus and vectors. “I’ve always worked well with numbers,” Repmann said of his affinity for math. “I’ve never had any trouble with a concept in math.” A couple of perfect scores in Grade 9 piqued his interest in perfection. “It was never a goal to get perfect in all my courses,” he said. “When it happened in a couple of classes I thought well maybe I could do it in a couple more. It actually was a little easier when I got to pick my courses and specialize in the ones I like.” Omar noted accomplishing such a feat “is no fluke.”

“He definitely worked at it,” Omar said. “He loves math and he finds it intriguing. He spent a lot of time on his work but it’s not like he doesn’t socialize at school. He’s such a great kid. If you met him in the hallway you’d fall in love with the kid, he’s so kind.” Repmann received $18,000 in entrance scholarships to pursue his studies in mathematics and statistics at the University of Windsor this fall.

Down the road, he’s counting on a master’s degree in actuary science at the University of Waterloo. As for his summer plans? “I’m just relaxing and hanging out with friends,” he said.
