To the sounds of horns, steam whis­tles and church bells, wind­sorites swarmed into the streets on nov. 11, 1918, to cel­e­brate the end of four years of sac­ri­fice and vic­tory in the “war to end all wars.” here, sol­diers in uni­form and civil­ians gather in ouel­lette square out­side the ar­mouries. the bor­der ci­ties star, fore­run­ner of the wind­sor star, de­clared in a head­line: bor­der ci­ties go wild when news of truce comes.
