House fire treated as suspicious
A fire that gutted a home in the city’s west end earlier this week is being treated as suspicious. Police have disclosed no details about why — only stating that their suspicions were reached “through investigation.” The blaze occurred at 3311 Peter St. during the early hours of Dec. 5. Windsor police and firefighters responded around 2 a.m. to reports of smoke and flames at the small home. They arrived to find the fire in progress. It took less than half an hour to bring the fire under control. No one was hurt. The house was unoccupied at the time, as it has been under renovation. Fire investigators believe the flames started in the home’s front family room. Damage has been estimated at $175,000 for the structure and $25,000 for the contents.
