Two men arrested after separate weekend stabbings downtown
Two men are facing assault charges after two separate stabbing incidents in downtown Windsor over the weekend, each resulting in a prompt arrest.
The first stabbing happened on Friday, shortly before 6:15 p.m., in front of the The Beer Store at 790 Goyeau St.
Officers arrived quickly and located an injured adult male. The man was able to give the officers a description of the male suspect and his last direction of travel. It took only about five minutes for police to find a suspect around the intersection of Ouellette Avenue and Wyandotte Street East. Police said a search of the suspect turned up quantities of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries were not considered life-threatening. Forensics officers and a police dog searched the crime scene, but were unable to find the weapon. Brandon Nunn, 27, of Windsor, has been charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, possession of suspected fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of suspected methamphetamine.
An investigation into the incident continues. The next stabbing happened on Saturday, shortly before 6 p.m., in the 500 block of Caron Avenue. Officers responding to a call arrived in the neighbourhood to find a small trail of blood on a sidewalk. The trail led the officers to a residence where they encountered an adult male with blood on his clothing.
According to police, the man appeared to be out of breath, and there were indications he had recently been involved in an altercation.
The officers arrested the suspect without trouble.
Soon afterward, a bleeding man was found in the 400 block of Caron Avenue. He was taken to hospital for treatment. His injury was not considered life threatening.
Further investigation found that the stabbing occurred inside a residence in the neighbourhood. Police said the suspect and the victim know each other. William Bullet, 45, of Windsor, has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon.
