FAILED TRUSTEE GETS DOCUMENTS
Failed school trustee candidate Eric Renaud has received some of the documents he requested from the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board under the Freedom of Information Act. Seeking to prove certain members of the board and the Diocese of London participated in third-party meddling prior to municipal elections last fall, Renaud made an extensive request for board emails, schedules and invoices related to the subject of merging the Catholic and public school boards and the preparation of a joint letter with the Diocese referencing the merger. On Jan. 11, the board released a raft of documents to Renaud and responded to other requests stating “access cannot be provided to the described records as there are no responsive records to request.” Renaud lost his bid for a trustee seat in Wards 3 & 4. He campaigned on a platform to merge the administration of the Catholic and public boards into one board to save money. A joint letter from board chair Barb Holland, Lyons and Bishop Ronald Fabbro was sent to local parishes and read from the pulpit just prior to voting day. It urged Catholics to speak up and vote against candidates suggesting a merger.
