WALPOLE ISLAND WOMAN CHARGED

A 30-year-old Walpole Island woman is facing charges after being arrested on a warrant. Chatham-Kent police said an officer saw the woman driving in Dresden on Dec. 29 around 11:30 p.m. while she was suspended for unpaid fines. The officer attempted to stop her, but she sped away and drove carelessly through the town in an effort to evade police. Police said the woman was arrested after being located Sunday while leaving a business in Dresden. During a search, police found suspected crystal methamphetamine. She was charged with driving while under suspension, careless driving, flight from police and drug possession. She was released with a Feb. 7 court date.
