GR Supra, BMW Z4 pricing revealed
Toyota’s Canadian reveal of the 2020 GR Supra at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto mid-February came with a pricing announcement. When it hits Canadian dealerships this summer, the new sports car will have a base price of $64,990.
There were no details on pricing for options, or even which options will be available. But we know that the car will have a 3.0-litre turbo inline six delivering 335 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque. What you won’t get is a manual transmission option, though the rear-drive car does reach 100 km/h from zero in just over four seconds shifting automatically.
The Supra’s German sibling, the 2020 BMW Z4 — both cars share the same platform, and many components and engines — also had its Canadian pricing revealed at the show: it starts at $62,450, though with a smaller 255-hp 2.0-L turbo four-cylinder. Upgrading to the Z4 M40i for $76,100 gets you the same 3.0-L six as the Supra, though rated at 382 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. As in the Supra, an eight-speed auto is the only gearbox.
BMW has been a little more forthcoming about options. A Harmon Kardon audio system will cost you $1,000, an M Performance package is $2,750, and the Premium Essential package is priced at $3,600. Features you won’t have to pay extra for on the 2020 Z4 include black leatherette seating, a built-in Wi-Fi hot spot and a heated steering wheel.
