The product: Levi’s Ribcage Jeans

Why we love it: A good pair of highrise jeans can be hard to find. Especially if you’re searching for a style that also happens to feature a straight leg. These days, skinny styles still seem to rule the denim world.

But a new release from the iconic American denim-brand Levi’s is looking to change that. Dubbed the Ribcage Jean, the style features a higher rise than any of the brand’s other jean styles.

The low-stretch denim styles (the current styles feature a 99 per cent cotton, one per cent elastane mix) boast a full 12-inch rise and a straight leg (similar to that featured on the popular Wedgie Straight style). Currently available in Canada in three washes — black, blue and an ultra-light-blue shade with a tie-waist detail — the range is sure to be a fast favourite among shoppers who are looking for a figure-flattering silhouette with a cool, vintage vibe.

“The authentic look and feel inspired by a ’90s Levi’s 501 with the modern amplified rise is so flattering — perfectly styled high or low,” Karyn Hillman, the global chief product officer for Levi Strauss & Co., said in a news release. We’re coveting all three washes, and are not-so secretly hoping the washes/fits of this style that are currently available on the Levi’s U.S. website soon become available north of the border too.

The price: From $108 to $118
