If the opener is any indication, the Bill Stobbs Division final between the Lakeshore Canadiens and Essex 73’s could be a thriller. Eric Larue scored with just under eight minutes to play in regulation and that was the lone goal as the Canadiens won 1-0 at the Essex Centre Sports Complex.

The defending champions head home to Lakesore for Game 2 on Friday with a 1-0 lead in the bestof-seven Provincial Junior Hockey League series. Lakeshore goalie Erik Morneau made 29 saves to earn the shutout with more than half of those saves coming in the third period when the 73’s held a 15-7 edge in shots and 29-25 overall.
