KRANTZ WROTE ‘BUBBLE BATH’ BOOKS
Judith Krantz, a bestselling author known for her novels Scruples and Princess Daisy, died Saturday at her Bel Air, Calif., home, her publicist John Tellem said. She was 91.
Born Judith Tarcher on Jan. 9, 1928, in New York, Krantz began in journalism, working for Good Housekeeping and writing freelance articles for Maclean’s, Mccall’s, Ladies’ Home Journal and Cosmopolitan.
In 1977, Krantz, shown, completed her first novel, Scruples, turning 50 the same year it was published in 1978. In four months, it topped the New York Times bestseller list.
Of Scruples, the told The New York Times: “My novel gives women a big bubble bath. It’s a chocolate eclair. It’s the kind of novel people love. I loved it myself.”
