Holiday hijinks star of student production
A naughty Cupid and a grumpy Rudolph are among the cast of characters in the new holiday musical A St. Clair Christmas.
The latest production from St. Clair College’s Performing Arts department hits the Chrysler Theatre stage Dec. 6.
“Your favourite reindeer are hard at work training apprentices for the biggest night of the year, but all is not calm and bright in Santa’s workshop, and heartache and hijinks threaten to jeopardize the final flight,” states a St. Clair College media release describing the show.
“What happens when a mischievous Cupid wields her bow, and a fussy Rudolph refuses to participate in any reindeer games? Windsor audiences can find out starting Dec. 6.”
The student-driven production was created by the college’s Music Theatre Performance and Entertainment Technology programs.
The show, set in the “picture-postcard setting of a whimsical North Pole,” will feature dance numbers set to holiday musical favourites and hits of the 1950s and 1960s.
“Each year a professional creative team works with the thirdyear music theatre performance students to devise a production from the ground up,” said program and artistic director Katherine Kaszas. “This year’s show brings humour and vintage charm to the holiday stories we all love, for a perfect addition to any holiday calendar.”
The show runs Dec. 6, 7, 12 and 13 starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Chrysler Theatre in downtown Windsor. There will also be 2 p.m. matinee shows on Dec. 7 and 14.
Tickets are $20. The student price is $10. You can buy them by calling 519-252-6579 or 1-800387-9181.
