Lakeshore closes West Beach

Lakeshore’s West Beach has been closed due to a “dramatic increase in the number of visitors who are not following the physical distancing requirements recommended by public health officials.” Rita Chappell, manager of communications & strategic initiatives, said Lakeshore council voted to immediately close the beach during a special council meeting Monday. Chappell said the Windsor Essex Health Unit will not be performing weekly beach inspections or testing water for E.coli during the 2020 season, which is a also safety concern. Boaters are asked not to bring water craft to the West Beach.
