CITY ASKS PUBLIC FOR FEEDBACK ON MACDONALD STATUE
Regina will be collecting feedback from the public on what to do with a statue of John A. Macdonald standing in Victoria Park, in the city’s downtown. A plaque hung by a chain around one of the statue’s feet contains a message acknowledging the “harmful legacy” of Canada’s first prime minister and says the city will be seeking advice from Indigenous elders, artists, community members and other cultural groups. The message also says the general public will be engaged on the statue’s future.
