PRAISE AND SCORN FOR KANYE
Kanye West received both praise and criticism Tuesday when he released a new single about racism and faith, a day after congratulating his wife, Kim Kardashian, for reaching billionaire status.
Some slammed West, shown, on social media for touting his family’s wealth in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic that has seen 36 million Americans lose their jobs and more than 129,000 die.
Hours later, he released the video Wash
Us in the Blood, which blends references to religion and systemic racism with imagery from protests about deaths of Black people at the hands of police.
On Monday, after cosmetics company Coty Inc. bought a 20 per cent stake in Kardashian’s KKW line that valued the makeup brand at US$1 billion, Kanye tweeted he was “so proud of my beautiful wife Kim Kardashian West for officially becoming a billionaire.”
