TOYOTA RECALLING PRIUS CARS

-

Toyota is recalling 11,576 older Prius hybrids in Canada because a powertrain defect could lead to the cars suddenly stalling. Prius models from 2013 to 2015, and Prius V models from 2014 to 2017 may be affected. A total of 752,000 cars are affected worldwide.

When a fault in the drivetrain is detected, the car typically goes into a fail-safe mode. However, in affected vehicles, the car may instead just stall and lose power. Power steering and power braking would remain, even if the engine stalls.

Toyota will update the hybrid software in affected vehicles. Driving.ca
