Road rage incident leads to firearms investigat­ion

A Windsor man faces multiple criminal charges after a weekend road rage incident involving a firearm.

On Sunday at approximat­ely 6 p.m., two vehicles in the area of Moy Avenue and Wyandotte Street East became involved in a road rage incident, police said in a news release on Monday.

Both vehicles went to an alley in the area of Gladstone Avenue and Wyandotte Street East where a male suspect driving a black Lincoln reportedly got out of his vehicle and pointed a gun at the other driver.

Police attended the area of the incident and were able to identify both the suspect and his vehicle.

At 7:45 p.m., officers located the vehicle at a residence in Windsor and found the male suspect wearing a “ballistic style vest” outside.

The suspect was subsequent­ly arrested.

Police are holding the vehicle and residence as evidence pending approval of a search warrant. No firearm has been recovered. James Summerfiel­d, 34, of Windsor, is charged with pointing a firearm, threatenin­g to use a weapon, possession of a handgun for a purpose dangerous to public peace, having his face masked with intent to commit an offence, and failure to comply with a release order.
