Police investigat­ing east-end house fire

No one injured as blaze causes $70,000 damage

A fire that gutted a house in an east Windsor neighbourh­ood on Tuesday afternoon is under investigat­ion by police.

A small two-storey residence in the 1800 block of Balfour Boulevard was the focus of multiple firefighti­ng units shortly before 3:45 p.m. due to heavy smoke and flames.

The fire was brought under control by 4 p.m. No injuries were reported.

An investigat­ion by Windsor Fire and Rescue Services found that the fire started in a bedroom of the home. However, the exact cause of the fire remains undetermin­ed.

Damage has been estimated at $70,000.

Windsor police officers were still at the scene on Wednesday morning.

The address was previously investigat­ed by Windsor police five months ago in relation to a report of gunfire in the area.

Multiple shots were heard in the 1800 block of Balfour Boulevard on the morning of Nov. 3, 2020.

No injuries were reported. Investigat­ors learned that a black

SUV was seen heading south on Balfour Boulevard at the time of the shooting.
