Camera records car at arson scene

OPP are studying images from surveillance cameras after an arson incident in Lakeshore destroyed two vehicles early Thursday. Police and firefighters responded around 2:35 a.m. to a report of a fire at a residence on Diemer Court in Lakeshore, near County Road 22. Along with the two vehicles that were set ablaze, there was minor fire damage to the residence. A surveillance camera recorded three unknown individuals near the property at the time the fire was set. Another camera recorded a red car leaving the area soon after the fire began. Lakeshore OPP said investigators are continuing to review the recordings. Members of the Essex County OPP crime unit and West Region OPP forensic services are helping with the case, in addition to consultation with the Ontario Fire Marshal's office.
