Two drivers charged by OPP

Essex County OPP have laid two impaired-driving charges against local residents in recent days. On Friday shortly before midnight, members of the Tecumseh OPP detachment saw a traffic violation on County Road 42 and pulled the involved vehicle over. Police spoke with the driver and suspected he had consumed alcohol, then administer­ed a roadside test. The driver was arrested and taken to the Tecumseh OPP detachment where he provided two samples over the legal limit. At 3:50 p.m. the next day, Lakeshore OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision on South Middle Road. The driver, who was not injured, reportedly displayed signs of impairment while speaking with police. He was arrested and taken to the Lakeshore OPP detachment where he also provided two samples that were over the legal limit. Both accused have had their licences suspended for 90 days and their vehicles impounded for seven days.
