Pups will soon have their own play area in Lasalle after town council approved the construction of the municipality's first dog park.

The approximately one-acre dog park will be constructed on the southeast section of the Vollmer Complex, near the public works building. It will have separate areas for large and small dogs. “We know that a dog park is something that the community has been asking about,” said Mayor Marc Bondy.

“We included the project in the 2021 budget. We look forward to the completion of this for our community.” Council set aside $85,000 in the 2021 budget for the park, which will also provide fresh water for the dogs. Existing trees will provide shade and Judy Recker Drive will be widened in the area of the dog park to allow for paved parking nearby. The dog park is scheduled to be complete by this fall.
