Sick and tired of the pandemic and lockdowns and social isolation?

Then consider hitting downtown Windsor this weekend and being entertained with song and music filling a number of streets in proximity.

The Downtown Windsor BIA is hosting the first in a series of street closures Friday and Saturday night with a lineup of live evening musical acts.

Sponsored by the University of Windsor's School of Creative Arts, the performances take place from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on both evenings.

Singer/songwriter duo Madeline Doornaert and Dane Roberts perform in the 200 block of Ouellette Avenue from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, followed by jazz and pop solo saxophonist Ted Hogan from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

During those same time periods, pop guitarist Andrew Seguin, followed by classic rock duo Strange Cats, will perform in the 300 block of Ouellette.

Also on Friday, jazz and pop pianist David Faulkner will perform in front of Craft Heads Brewing on University Avenue West from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., followed by folksters The Fontaines from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Vocal jazz trio Coffee House Combo will be in front of Maiden Lane Wine & Spirits from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Saturday night will see another series of musical performances at the same four locations:

Hogan is back in front of The Coffee Exchange in the 200 block of Ouellette from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., while Faking Requests and Mark Calcott bring piano and vocals at the same time a block to the south in front of Lefty's on the O.

Due North Trio's jazz is coming to the street in front of Craft Heads from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., followed by Seguin again from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On Maiden Lane West, it's Organization Trio with soul-jazz instrumental organ from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

“Be sure to grab a drink, a bite or shop our small businesses — bring your family and friends and let us rock your world,” the Downtown Windsor BIA in a statement.
