Belle River woman $500,000 richer
Retiree's good fortune continues banner year for lucky Windsor-essex winners
Belle River's Gloria Miller knows how to pick a winner.
Miller — a regular lottery player — is $500,000 richer after she picked the right numbers for the July 13 Daily Keno draw.
“I always chose significant family dates as my numbers to play,” Miller revealed to Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. staff.
Along with Daily Keno, Miller likes to play Pick-3 and Pick-4.
Despite her habit, Miller said she never expected to win a half-million dollars, and she was shocked to discover she had won when she visited Joe's Variety on Notre Dame Street in Belle River.
Miller — a retiree — said she intends to use the money to pay off some bills, build a deck and build her savings to provide for a more comfortable future.
The odds of winning at Daily Keno depend on the dollar bet and the number of picks. Miller chose a 10-pick approach.
Miller's good fortune continues a banner year for big lottery winners in the Windsor-essex region.
Xuan Nguyen, 59, of Windsor, recently celebrated winning $500,000 via Maxmillions in the June 22 Lotto MAX draw.
Another Windsor resident — 63-year-old John Chisholm — snagged the $613,731 second prize in the Lotto MAX draw on June 8.
Michele Allen, her daughter Dana Harris, and her son Michael Allen won $1 million via Maxmillions in the June 4 Lotto MAX draw. Lee Evans of Amherstburg won $1 million playing ENCORE on the April 2 Lotto MAX draw, while Saban Arayan of Windsor won $1 million on the OLG'S Bigger Spin wheel in February.
