Windsor police still searching for suspect in home invasion
A home invasion suspect who Windsor police say is “considered dangerous” remains at large following the arrest of three other men in the case.
According to police, Nicholas Mccullough, 30, is wanted on numerous charges related to the March 21 robbery of an elderly couple in their east Windsor home.
Mccullough, who was out on parole at the time of the robbery, is also wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for a variety of other charges, said Sgt. Darius Goze.
“Mr. Mccullough is also wanted on an unrelated matter for assault cause bodily harm that occurred on March 21,” said Goze, speaking at a Thursday morning news conference at police headquarters.
“I'm imploring Mr. Mccullough to turn himself in immediately to answer to these charges.”
Major crime investigators identified four suspects wanted for the break-in at a house in the 1400 block of Aspenshore Avenue.
Two men wearing masks and carrying a firearm forced their way into the home, assaulted the two elderly occupants and stole what police describe as “a large quantity” of jewelry.
One of the robbers pointed a firearm, while a second intruder threw the elderly female homeowner to the ground. The couple, a man and woman in their '70s, received minor physical injuries.
Goze said police have determined the home invasion and robbery was not a random act.
“We have evidence to believe that this was a targeted incident and that it was calculated and it was deliberate,” he said.
All four accused parties are charged jointly with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, but Goze would give no specifics other than to say “it involves communication, planning and organizing.”
“And it's not difficult to see a connection without me having to discuss the specifics of the case,” he said, adding the homeowners and the suspects were not known to each other.
He advised residents to use care when people appear at a home's door and suggested residents check cameras, light up porches at night and call police if you're unsure about someone's identity.
Mccullough is described as a white man, approximately six-feet tall and 187 pounds, with a muscular build. He may have short, dark brown hair and a trimmed beard.
Police advise people not to approach him if he is identified. Call 911 immediately.
Jason Makulski, 36, was arrested April 9 at a residence in the 2600 block of Lloyd George Boulevard, while Raymond Hunter, 41, was taken into custody at a business in the 3200 block of Devon Drive.
Wednesday, police arrested Lawrence Chinyangwa, 32, at a residence in the 5400 block of Reginald Street.
Along with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, the four men face robbery and assault charges, false representation of a peace officer, weapon possession charges, break and enter and wearing a disguise charges. Chinyangwa also has an additional charge of failure to comply with a release order.
