Jays, Tigers game is also Alzheimer Society fundraiser

It will be a day of cross-border rivalries and charitable fundraisin­g.

The Detroit Tigers will take on the Toronto Blue Jays at Comerica Park on May 25 in a game that will also serve as a fundraiser for the Alzheimer Society of Windsor and Essex County (ASWE).

The game starts at 1:10 p.m., kicking off celebratio­ns for Memorial Day Weekend. Gates will open at 11:30 a.m.

Fans wishing to help with the fundraiser must buy their ticket packages through the Alzheimer Society of Windsor and Essex County. Each ticket package purchased through the organizati­on includes entry to the game and an exclusive ASWE Baseball hat.

A portion of proceeds from each ticket package will also go to the Alzheimer Society of Windsor and Essex County.

“Funds raised will support essential programs and services for individual­s and families affected by Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia in the local community,” the society said in a media release.

The Alzheimer Society of Windsor and Essex County is a non-profit organizati­on that uses advocacy, support services, education, and research initiative­s to raise awareness, promote early detection, and enhance the understand­ing of dementia.

Each ticket package, which includes a seat in section 216 overlookin­g right field, is $30. The deadline to buy the package is 11:59 p.m. on May 23.
